The region of Sfakia, in the southwest of the island of Crete, is part of Chania province, and for Crete is quite unique as an area that is still untouched by mass tourism. It mainly consists of mountains up to 2453 metres high, fertile planes and small villages along the coast and in the mountains in traditional Cretan style. Its small capital Chora Sfakion, also called Sfakia, has 400 inhabitants, and a small harbour where the ferries to other villages dock. Most villagers live as shepherd, or fisherman, or they grow olives. There are also several family run small hotels and sea front tavernas, and a few shops.

The Sfakia region has about 2,500 inhabitants, and is famous for its history of resistance against invaders, impressive nature, very hospitable people, splendid weather, quiet beaches with crystal clear sea water, good food and wine, and its marvellous opportunities to walk along the coast, hike in the mountains, and go through several of the gorges that cross the mountains. The famous Samaria gorge lies in Sfakia.

The area is quiet, being end of the road, and without an ongoing coastal road. Transport here is by ferry boats. Sfakia, in the southwest of Crete, is Europe's southernmost point.

At the quiet west side of the village of Chora Sfakion, just next to the village beach, Giannis and Nataliya, with their daughter Zoe, and the Kouridakis family, run their beautiful taverna and holiday accommodation The Three Brothers.

The holiday accommodation is quietly set and separate from the taverna at the beach (100 metres), and consists of rooms, studios with kitchenette, and apartments with 2 or 3 rooms. All of them have an optional air conditioning. The rooms, studios and apartments have a private balcony, shower and toilet, and look to the beautiful garden and the sea. There is a free parking place for our guests. The village beach is just 100 metres walking.

Directly next to the village beach of Chora Sfakion, just 100 metres from the rooms, studios and apartments, Giannis, Nataliya and their mother Georgia run a taverna with traditional Cretan dishes. The family are fishermen, so you will find the best quality of fresh fish and other sea food here. The taverna has a unique charcoal grill for special dishes. The family also serves more western plates.
